How to choose which AI content repurposing software is best for your needs

It’s best to start with the fact that each of us has very different needs when it comes to our content strategy and production.

Content could mean long form blog posts, video, voicenotes, or Tweets (I refuse to call them Xts).

That being said I do have a process for selecting new platforms to use in my own day to day content creation. Goes a little something like this:

  1. Define the problem. Yes, simple but often overlooked. Don’t go chasing wa….shiny widgets without understanding what your needs even are in the first place.

  2. Understand your options. Sometimes the right solution is not AI or even a new tool. It could be a new hire or simple update to your existing process. Map these out first.

  3. Create a list of must haves and non negotiables. What do you need in order to be successful? Think about price ranges, key outcomes you want, and things that make your blood boil.

  4. Try multiple options and make a short list. Don’t fall in love with the first person you meet on the first date. See what’s out there, ask your network, and test yourself.

  5. Go through two or three real workflows. End to end, not just theory. Make sure that the product can actually get the job done beyond the demo or one or two features. You need a solution.

Doing this takes slightly more time and effort than blindly chasing the new shiny object or making a selection based on one other person’s opinion.

If the thought of going through this sounds daunting, don’t worry. I believe in you. You are Kenough.

I am Kenough.

AI content repurposing FAQs

How do you use AI for content repurposing?

AI helps you to quickly, easily, and cheaply transform your existing content assets into other formats. It can do this because of it’s tremendous information processing capabilities.

How can AI support audio content repurposing?

Transforming voice notes or audio files into other content formats is one of my own favorite use cases of AI tools. It’s a great place to start if you want to repurpose because it’s accessible and easy to do. No prep needed to open up your phone or a google doc and start yapping.

From there you can use any number of generative AI or special purpose tools (cough cough Meet Sona cough cough ) to turn your audio into blog posts, LinkedIn content, infographics, and more.

This also ensures your content matches your unique tone, voice, and style from the beginning. No need to mess around with silly humanizing tools.

Is repurposing content with AI illegal?

Possibly, if you are doing it in an illegal way or with bad intentions. But no, in and of itself, it is not illegal to repurpose your own content with AI. Wild question.

What is AI content repurposing?

This one is purely for the algo I know it in my bones.

AI content repurposing is the process of using generative AI to ingest and transform existing content in one format (blog post, long form video, audio file) into another format (LinkedIn posts, newsletter, or Tweets).

Are there tools to repurpose content by persona?

Yes, but this is where the market gets thin pretty fast.

Most repurposing tools are obsessed with format (turning a video into shorts) or platform (optimizing for TikTok vs LinkedIn). They don’t really care about who you’re talking to.

With Meet Sona, you can absolutely do this.

When you set up your profile or conduct an interview, you define your target audience and ICP. The system uses that information to generate content that speaks directly to those people. Want to repurpose the same interview insights for early-stage founders versus enterprise CMOs? Update your target audience settings or do a fresh interview with that specific persona in mind, and the outputs shift accordingly.

Castmagic is the only other tool on my list that comes close.

They’ve got what they call “persona adaptive” templates and multi-brand capabilities with brand voice training. So if you’re an agency managing multiple clients with different audiences, you can theoretically tailor outputs to each. But it’s more about brand voice consistency than true persona-based repurposing.

Many of the video-focused tools are looking for “viral moments” or automating distribution across channels. They don’t know or care that your LinkedIn audience is different from your TikTok audience in terms of messaging. They’ll resize your video, sure. But they won’t reframe your message for a different buyer.

If persona-based content is important to your strategy (and honestly, it should be), you’ll need to think through this before you pick your tool stack.

Is it best to start with a video, written content, or audio when using content repurposing software?

Depends on how you naturally work and what you’ve already got.

Video makes sense if you’re already producing podcasts with a visual component, webinars, or YouTube content. Opus Clip, Munch, and Repurpose.io are built for this. They detect highlights, clip segments, add captions. Great for multiplying reach on content you’re already creating. The tradeoff is video requires production lift upfront. Lighting, camera, environment. For busy founders that’s often one more barrier.

Written content works if you’ve got a library of blog posts or newsletters collecting dust. Some tools turn text into video snippets or social posts. Good way to squeeze more value from existing assets.

Audio is my favorite starting point, and it’s what Meet Sona is built around.

Speaking bypasses writer’s block entirely. You’re not performing for a blank page. You’re just talking through ideas stream of consciousness style, and your real thoughts come out faster than you can type them. Audio also captures your actual verbal identity, the way you naturally phrase things, the examples you reach for. That’s hard to replicate when you’re laboring over word choice in a doc.

And there’s zero prep. Open your phone, hit record, start talking. No lighting. No camera setup. Lowest friction entry point that exists.

No universally “best” format. But if blank page paralysis is killing you or your content sounds generic, audio might unlock something. It did for me.
